Endless love: Tandoori Tofu- another dedication to indian kitchen

am

I hope your thoughts are not going like « OMG, another indian recipe »…
I simply love indian kitchen and there is so much that can be « veganised » !

This time I tried out a Tandoori Tofu « Paneer Style ». I remember the Tandoori Paneer as my favorite dish in Mumbai, but I wanted the vegan version for now.
The recipe is really easy, needs a bit of time but is worth every minute !

Here is what you need :

• Tofu (buy the fresh asian one, it’s the best ! You get it in every asian grocery)
• Spices ! I took Fenugreek seeds, Mustard seeds, Cilantro seeds, kardamom
• Beside those : Pepper and salt, Tandoori powder, a bit of spicy curry powder
• Tomato sauce (can get bought as a convenience product) (200-300 ml)
• Cornstarch (2 tbs)
• Vegetable stock (100-200 ml)

How it gets prepared :

• Cut the tofu into small pieces, put cornstarch and Tandoori powder into a small bag, add the tofu and mix
• Put the seeds into a mortar and mix
• Fry some oil in a large pan
• Then put the mixed seeds into the pan and let fry a bit
• Pour with vegetable stock, add the tandoori powder and the curry powder and let simmer for at least 10 minutes, always watch that there is enough vegetable stock
• In another pan fry some oil, then fry the tofu in it on very hot temperature (pay attention that you are not bruning your tofu)
• Put the tomate sauce into the vegetable stock and let simmer another 10-15 minutes, add salt and Pepper
• At the end, add the fryed tofu to the tandoori sauce
• Serve with rice and homemade naan (You will find the recipe here : https://verycurry.wordpress.com/2018/05/13/namaste-india-a-dedication-to-a-country-that-i-really-miss/ )
